BUCHANAN, Mich. (WNDU) - The Buchanan Baseball team is gearing up for their regional championship Saturday afternoon.

Like every team, this season means more to the Bucks since they had it taken away from them last year due to the pandemic.

“We’re really hungry,” senior Keeghan Pelley said. “Since we didn’t get a junior year, I’m a senior obviously so I didn’t get my junior year season. We would come out here every day and compete. We want the trophy so bad. I mean being able to hold it up for our town, it’d be amazing.”

The number one-ranked Bucks want to win for the seniors last year who missed out and also their entire community.

“They’re ready to plan man,” head coach Jim Brawley said. “They feel like they got cheated out of their best chance. We lost some really really good seniors and all these kids know that. So they really wanna win.”

“Oh man, we want it all,” Murphy Wegner said. “We really wanna see the best. The next win is all that matters though.”

Buchanan plays North Muskegon Saturday at 1 at Cornerstone University for the the regional championship.
