‘Teacher Appreciation Night’ at Four Winds Field
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - On Wednesday, more than 1,000 teachers and educators were honored during a South Bend Cubs game at Four Winds Field for Teacher Appreciation Night.
The South Bend Cubs wanted to thank educators for all of their hard work during the pandemic.
They got two free tickets to the game, plus food vouchers.
“It’s time to relax, have fun with my kids. Know that we are appreciated for all of our hard work this past year,” said Substitute Teacher at Emmons Elementary Connie Earnhart.
“It’s like, wow, a pat on the back that sometimes we need, but not always. It’s nice to know that, wow, we do care. We do make a difference,” said Teacher at Knox Community Elementary School Meda Sullivan.
Educators said they love what they do.
“It is. It’s very rewarding. All the hugs that you get. The smiles,” Earnhart said.
Sullivan has been a teacher for 45 years and currently teaches kindergarten.
“They come in wanting to learn. They’ve got that desire, that thrive,” she said.
The South Bend Cubs played against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
“Yes, I love the South Bend Cubs, the Chicago Cubs majorly. Forever and ever I’ve always loved the Cubs,” said Teacher at Dickinson Fine Arts Academy Susan Pemberton.
There was also a firework show after the game.
